Nazar Ostapovych Sokolovskyi «Sokil»

Sokolovskyi Nazar Ostapovych was a serviceman of the reconnaissance group of the headquarters of a special purpose detachment of the Special Operations Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, a soldier.

He was born on April 27, 1989, in the village of Rybnyky, Berezhany district, now part of the Saranchuky rural territorial community of Ternopil district, Ternopil region. He graduated from Potutory Secondary School, now Potutory Lyceum, in the village of Potutory, Berezhany district, now part of the Berezhany urban territorial community of Ternopil district, Ternopil region.

He loved playing football. He played as a midfielder for the football clubs «Yednist» from the village of Rybnyky and «Khatky» from the city of Berezhany, Ternopil region. He took part in football championships of Ternopil region, Ternopil district, and Berezhany district.

He worked as director of the agricultural limited liability company «Obolon» in the village of Rybnyky and as director of the municipal enterprise «Blahoustrii-Service» of the Saranchuky Village Council in the village of Saranchuky, Ternopil district, Ternopil region.

He was engaged in civic activity. He was a member of the «European Solidarity» party and a deputy of the Saranchuky Village Council of Ternopil district, Ternopil region, from the «European Solidarity» faction from 2020.

In 2022, he was mobilized into the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. At first, he served in the Territorial Defense Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and later in the reconnaissance group of the headquarters of a special purpose detachment of the Special Operations Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, military unit A6175.

From 2022, he took part in battles against the Russian occupiers. He fought in Donetsk, Luhansk, and Sumy regions.

On March 1, 2024, Soldier Nazar Sokolovskyi was killed as a result of an airstrike in the city of Hlukhiv, Shostka district, Sumy region.

On March 3, 2024, he was buried at the cemetery of the village of Rybnyky.

He was awarded the Order «For Courage», III class (02.05.2024; posthumously).

Honorary Citizen of Ternopil Region (27.06.2024; posthumously).
