The Day of the Unity of Ukraine at the Ivan Bohun Kyiv Military College
Today we celebrate the Day of the Unity of Ukraine!
On January 22, 1919, the Unification Act of the Ukrainian People's Republic and the West Ukrainian People's Republic was proclaimed on Sofia Maidan in Kyiv. The Unification Act became a powerful manifestation of the will of Ukrainians for ethnic and territorial independence, evidence of the self-determination of our people and the formation of a political nation. We have officially celebrated the Day of the Assembly of Ukraine since 1999.
We had the honor to be participants at the event dedicated to the Day of Unity and Freedom of Ukraine named "Glorious dates of the history of Ukraine", held for cadets of the Ivan Bohun Kyiv Military College. The event was also attended by the head of the Public Organization "Military History Center", historian Vasyl Pavlov, researcher of the history of the Army of the Ukrainian People's Republic Andriy Kovalev, member of the Kyiv Society of Political Prisoners and Repressed Nataliya Stolyarenko, as well as the parish priest of the Church of St. Nicholas on the Askold Tomb - Father Ihor. Together, we discussed urgent issues of Ukrainian history, in particular, we paid a lot of attention to the study of the Day of Unity.
The school library received 100 books from us as part of the "Army Reads" program. Among them are historical and philosophical books, motivational literature, valuable classic and modern fiction novels. We are glad that the new military elite is growing under the tutelage of erudite ukrainians!
