Launching PHTLS Training and Textbooks in Ukraine
On this Emergency Medicine Day, NGO Reformation is proud to announce a monumental milestone in medical resilience: the launch of free pilot Prehospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS) courses in Kyiv, Lviv, and Dnipro, alongside the official Ukrainian publication of the gold-standard PHTLS manual!
In high-intensity conflicts, well-structured prehospital care is the ultimate line between life and death — not just on the active frontlines, but in rear cities enduring systemic trauma. By equipping Ukrainian first responders with the world’s leading trauma curriculum, we aren't just saving lives; we are helping a vital international ally build long-term societal resilience.
Supporting our allies at the forefront of democratic defense allows the international medical community to learn invaluable, real-world lessons from modern, high-intensity warfare. NGO Reformation stands at the intersection of this knowledge exchange, ensuring that Western medical practices protect human life today while absorbing critical insights that will shape the future of emergency medicine globally.
The PHTLS curriculum, developed by our premier American partners, drastically increases the survivability of trauma victims, stabilizing them so advanced trauma teams can take over. Every course participant will receive a Ukrainian copy of this definitive textbook to carry this life-saving knowledge forward.
This project is a testament to the power of international collaboration. We want to extend our deepest thanks to the incredible partners who made this possible: National Association of Emergency Medical Technicians and the Committee on Trauma of the American College of Surgeons (American College of Surgeons) for granting permission to translate this vital 10th-edition curriculum.
Thank you to the Ukrainian Resuscitation Council (Всеукраїнська рада реанімації) for their meticulous scientific editing and course leadership, the American-Ukrainian Medical Foundation (AUMF) for coordinating the translation, and the publishing house Nash Format (Наш Формат) for bringing this manual to print.
We highly appreciate the vital endorsement and cooperation of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine (Міністерство охорони здоров'я України).
This life-saving initiative would not be possible without the generous financial backing of the Canada-Ukraine Foundation (CUF) and the UMANA -Ukrainian Medical Association of North America.
Together, we are proving that knowledge is a powerful tool of resilience. Thank you for standing with Ukraine's first responders!
