The publishing house "Nash Format" has published the book "Veteran and Military Mental Health" by Christopher Warner and Karl Castro. The publication was prepared at the initiative of Oleg Gukovsky and the Ukrainian Reformation Community.
The issue of mental health of military personnel and veterans is becoming increasingly relevant for Ukraine. The transition from military service to civilian life is a long process that requires professional support for both the veterans themselves and their families.
The book is based on many years of research by the US Army and practical experience working with active military personnel, veterans and their family members. The authors offer a comprehensive model of working with a wide range of challenges, including combat and operational stress, PTSD, traumatic brain injuries, moral trauma, insomnia, addictions, suicidality and chronic pain.
The publication will be useful primarily for psychologists, psychotherapists, doctors, social workers, as well as for everyone who works in the field of veteran support.
300 copies of the book will be donated to the Ukrainian Reformation Community. In the future, we will replenish the funds of medical educational institutions, libraries of rehabilitation centers, military units and other institutions that work with servicemen and veterans. Distribution will take place, in particular, within the framework of the “Army Reads” program.
We thank all partners who joined the implementation of this project: the US Embassy in Ukraine, the National Psychological Association of Ukraine, the American Psychological Association, the Society for Military Psychology (Division 19), as well as Oleg Gukovsky for his contribution to the appearance of this publication.
We are convinced that access to high-quality professional knowledge is an important component of supporting those who defend Ukraine and those who help them return to peaceful life.
